Complications attributed to intravenous colloidal silver

A report has been published about three people whose condition worsened after receiving multiple intravenous infusiions at a “wellness center” for alleged Lyme disease. Each was eventually seen by a hematologist and found to have copper-deficiency-induced anemia with abnormal blood cell counts. One patient was then treated successfully with supplemental copper apheresis and an antidepressant. The other two patients refused apheresis and follow-up with the hematologist. After the authors of this case series complained to the Texas Medical Board, the initial treating physician agreed to voluntarily surrender his medical license.

Colloidal silver suits settled

Reno, Nevada-based Beneficial Solutions LLC and its owner Russell B. Altman have been successfully sued by two women who consumed the company’s colloidal silver product (NutraSilver) and then developed argyria, a condition in which silver salts deposit in the skin, eyes, and internal organs, and the skin turns ashen-gray. One of the women also developed peripheral neuropathy, a painful condition that her doctors thought was due to silver particles they could see in nerve biopsy specimens. The other woman underwent painful laser Picosure treatments to attempt to return her skin to a normal color.

Both women charged that the company had falsely advertised that NutraSilver was effective treatment for a multitude of diseases and that colloidal silver particles are too small to cause argyria. Sorry, not a shred of proof that this product has any effect at all! 

When consumers health, money and safety is concerned, we can only argue for proof for the product, for without proof, we have to argue that it is no more than a scam.
