A father in Indianapolis last week accused his wife of feeding their child bleach to help cure her autism – something his wife had read about in a Facebook group.

Police arrested the 28-year-old mother on Saturday after she allegedly put drops of hydrochloric acid and water-purifying solution in her young daughter’s drinks.

The potentially dangerous chemical combination, which becomes an industrial bleach, is marketed as Miracle Mineral Solution or Master Mineral Solution, which its advocates claim will cure a number of diseases, including autism, cancer, AIDS and hepatitis.

Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan has filed suit to stop a Texas-based distributor from marketing Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS).

The chemicals in MMS—sodium chlorite and citric acid—when mixed together become chlorine dioxide, a powerful bleaching agent that can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and severe dehydration when taken by mouth. Ryan’s petition alleges:

An article by Jane McCredie, published in the Medical Journal Australia

A FEW years ago, I attended a scientific conference on autism. In the foyer, among the drug company stands and the stalls selling learning aids, was a promotional display for hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

Commercial providers of this service claim it offers huge benefits for everything from infectious diseases to cancer. For children with autism, it’s alleged to improve cognitive and general function as well as social and language skills.

Weirdly, providers often describe it as a “natural” treatment, offering it alongside homeopathy and various dietary programs. How being put into a metal chamber to breathe pressurised oxygen can be considered natural beats me.

There’s no evidence to support the use of this or many of the other alternative treatments promoted for autism, as Dr Andrew Whitehouse of Perth’s Telethon Institute has written, but … Read the rest

It’s little more than household bleach, but is touted as a cure for autism and a gut sanitiser that will cure almost anything from HIV to cancer. Pioneered but discredited in the United States, the mineral solution has now been brought to South Africa where the mixture, containing chlorine dioxide, is being administered to children. But there have been no clinical trials to test this so-called ‘miracle solution’ and experts say it’s downright dangerous. Carte Blanche investigates: Video

Medicines Control Council warns against the use of the unregistered medicine, Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) and similar products for the treatment of medical conditions

 Date: 15 May 2016

At its 77th meeting on 21-22 April 2016, the Medicines Control Council (MCC) expressed their concern over the use of an unregistered medicine sold as Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) by the public. Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) has been claimed to be effective in the treatment of various medical conditions, including HIV/AIDS, cancer, autism, type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is claimed that Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) can remove impurities from the body. Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS) is allegedly sold by the Genesis II Church, using a pyramid-type marketing and distribution scheme.

The Medicine Law Enforcement Unit of the Department of Health is continuing to investigate the sale of these products and may pursue

British MMS prescriber suspended

The British General Medical Council has suspended the registration of Dr. Finbar Magee. [Houston L. Alternative medicine row doctor is suspended by GMC. Belfast Telegraph, Nov 26, 2015]

MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution), an industrial-strength bleach derivative that has been marketed for many health problems, has been subjected to enforcement actions in several countries because it is ineffective and dangerous.

Last May, an RTE Prime Time television documentary focused on Magee’s prescription of MMS for the treatment of an autistic child. His interim suspension follows a panel ruling last December which restricted his practice to closely supervised practice at his clinic. Magee has operated Synergy Healthcare in Belfast, Ireland, for many years, which offers a wide range of offbeat treatments. The GMC’s concerns about him have not yet been disclosed but are likely to be related to his advocacy of MMS. Interim suspension is usually followed … Read the rest
