TGA initiates court proceedings against MMS Australia and director Charles Barton for alleged unlawful advertising

The Department of Health’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has initiated proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia in response to the alleged unlawful advertising of Miracle Mineral Supplement (also referred to as Miracle Mineral Solution) (MMS), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and other medicines by Southern Cross Directories Pty Ltd trading as MMS Australia.

The TGA recently issued MMS Australia with twelve infringement notices totalling $151,200 for alleged unlawful advertising. The TGA also informed MMS Australia that it must immediately remove all advertisements in breach of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (the Act), and warned that court action may be initiated if the advertisements were not removed within two days.

MMS Australia did not remove the allegedly unlawful advertising. The TGA has therefore initiated court proceedings to obtain an injunction restraining MMS Australia and its director, Charles Barton, from advertising or supplying the relevant … Read the rest

Agency Continues Effort to Protect Public Health from Fraudulent and Harmful Products For Immediate Release: April 08, 2020

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning letter to a seller that markets fraudulent and dangerous chlorine dioxide products known as “Miracle Mineral Solution” for prevention and treatment of “Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019” (COVID-19). The FDA has previously warned consumers not to purchase or drink chlorine dioxide products sold online as medical treatments, as the agency is not aware of any scientific evidence supporting their safety or effectiveness and they pose significant risks to patient health. The FDA is taking this action to protect Americans as part of its response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers not to purchase or drink a product sold online as a medical treatment due to a recent rise in reported health issues. Since 2010, the FDA has warned consumers about the dangers of Miracle or Master Mineral Solution, Miracle Mineral Supplement, MMS, Chlorine Dioxide (CD) Protocol, Water Purification Solution (WPS) and other similar products. Miracle Mineral Solution has not been approved by the FDA for any use, but these products continue to be promoted on social media as a remedy for treating autism, cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and flu, among other conditions. Part 1 describes autism spectrum disorder; the false link between autism and both the MMR vaccine and thimerosal; mainstream therapeutic interventions; the autism acceptance movement; and eight dubious approaches:

A father in Indianapolis last week accused his wife of feeding their child bleach to help cure her autism – something his wife had read about in a Facebook group.

Police arrested the 28-year-old mother on Saturday after she allegedly put drops of hydrochloric acid and water-purifying solution in her young daughter’s drinks.

The potentially dangerous chemical combination, which becomes an industrial bleach, is marketed as Miracle Mineral Solution or Master Mineral Solution, which its advocates claim will cure a number of diseases, including autism, cancer, AIDS and hepatitis.

According to this USA FDA Import Alert dated 21 November 2017, Herbex products, Faith Herbal Drops, MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution), XXXL Penis Enlarging Ointment, Aloe Bitter Arthro-Detox Tablets and others were detained and prevented from entering the USA.

The Alert states, among other:

“*** Unapproved drugs present serious safety and effectiveness concerns“.
“When evidence exists for the marketing or promotion of unapproved drugs to individuals residing in the United States, the products should be considered for detention without physical examination“.

A FEW years ago, I attended a scientific conference on autism. In the foyer, among the drug company stands and the stalls selling learning aids, was a promotional display for hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

Commercial providers of this service claim it offers huge benefits for everything from infectious diseases to cancer. For children with autism, it’s alleged to improve cognitive and general function as well as social and language skills.

Weirdly, providers often describe it as a “natural” treatment, offering it alongside homeopathy and various dietary programs. How being put into a metal chamber to breathe pressurised oxygen can be considered natural beats me.
